A variety of specialized equipment is available through DSPS for individual loan such as spell checkers, assistive listening devices, and tape recorders.

Specialized Classes

Specialized courses have been developed for students who could benefit that assist the student in the acquisition of learning strategies for use with specific learning processing differences. Courses include learning strategies, phonetics, and writing strategies to list a few. Specific offerings for fall and spring are available in the WHC schedule.

Specialized Tutoring

Faculty may recommend that students seek help in the Tutoring Center. Some students with disabilities are eligible for individual tutoring above and beyond what the college provides for non-disabled students. At WHC, special tutoring is coordinated directly through the DSPS Counselor. In addition DSPS faculty can act in consultation with the tutorial services when problems arise in meeting students' educational needs. It is the responsibility of the student to initiate the request for tutoring and utilizing the services appropriately as required for all students.
