West Hills College Lemoore Turns to Virtual Graduation, Graduation Boxes

Graduation: it’s a special time for any student and one that has sadly been interrupted by the ongoing COVID-19 crisis. However, West Hills College Lemoore is doing all it can to help students have a special experience, regardless of the state of the world.

WHCL will be releasing a graduation video on May 22nd, the original date of the college’s commencement ceremony. On May 20, WHCL will also hold a curbside Graduation in a Box event.

"It was a painstaking decision to cancel our commencement ceremony,” said Dr. Kristin Clark. “Our graduates worked really hard, they were dedicated to their studies, and in the end they persevered. This last semester was especially difficult because they had to overcome the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. Although this is not a substitute for the in-person commencement ceremony, we hope that these small gifts and the 2020 graduation video indicate how enormously proud we are of our graduates. They started strong, they stayed strong, and now they are finishing strong. We can't wait to wave and cheer them on at our curb-side pickup.”

The graduation video will emulate the graduation ceremony as much as possible and serve as a keepsake for graduates. The Graduation in a Box will include graduation themed items and college memorabilia and can be picked up by graduates curbside on May 20 between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Graduates will be assigned specific times to drive through the circle out in front of the Golden Eagle Arena. Faculty and staff will be on site to congratulate graduates as they drive through.
