West Hills College Coalinga to Celebrate Black History Month with Feb. 28 event

West Hills College Coalinga will host an event celebrating Black History Month on Feb. 28 at 7 p.m. in the WHCC Theater. The event will be held following a special Gumbo dinner the same day, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

The event will feature special guest speaker Dameane Douglas, former NFL player on the Oakland Raiders, Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs. He is currently a public speaker and community activist.

“WHCC is proud to celebrate Black History Month this February with a dinner, speakers, a discussion panel, and an open mic night. We welcome WHCC staff, students, faculty and the community to join us as we celebrate a rich and vibrant culture."

Admission to the Black History Month celebration is free.

A speaker’s panel will also be held featuring panel guests WHCC President Brenda Thames; Ms. Joyce Glaspie; Mr. Jim Grant; Dr. Kenneth Henry; Mr. Ron Danner; Mr. Adrian Jenkins; and Mr. Dameane Douglas.

An open mic will also be held from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. featuring performances from WHCC students.

The community is welcomed and encouraged to attend the dinner and event.
