WHCL Nursing Graduation

Lemoore College held a pinning ceremony on May 22 for the associate degree in nursing program.

The ceremony was held in the Golden Eagle Arena, with a total of 23 students participating.

The nursing pinning ceremony is a special ceremony held for each year’s graduating class of nurses, separate from the general WHCL graduation. This ceremony honors the new nurses and their journeys and welcomes them into the nursing professions.

Cynthia Dolata, WHCL Assistant Director of Nursing, served as faculty speaker. Pete Howell served as the student speaker. DeFede presented student awards.

Nursing instructor Hilliary Sulcer conducted the pinning and read thank you notes from students to their family and friends as the students were pinned.

Nursing instructor Geri Mahaffey oversaw the lighting of the lamp and recitation of the Nightingale pledge at the end of the ceremony, a traditional way of welcoming nurses into the profession.
