Tasting Tuesday: Crisp Rice Cereal Pumpkins

Halloween season is here! That means lots of Halloween events and even more Halloween themed treats! These crispy rice cereal pumpkins are so simple to make and taste even better than the name brand treat, in my humble opinion. Plus, they’re a whole lot cuter.

Ingredients
  • ¼ Cup Butter
  • 1 Bag Large Marshmallows (Approximately 40 Marshmallows)
  • 6 Cups Rice Krispies Cereal
  • Red & Yellow Food Coloring
  • Mini Rolos
  • Green M&Ms
  • ¼ Cup Cooking Oil or Melted butter or Food Safe Gloves for Shaping the Pumpkins
Instructions
  1. In a large pot, melt ¼ cup of butter over low heat.
  2. Add the marshmallows and stir until completely melted and combined with the butter.
  3. Remove from heat. Add several drops of yellow food coloring, mix together, and then add red food coloring in one drop at a time, mixing as you go. Continue adding and mixing single drops of red food coloring until you reach your desired shade of orange.
  4. Add the Rice Krispie’s and stir to combine.
  5. Coat both sides of your hands with a generous amount of cooking oil or melted butter and roll the Rice Krispie mixture into small balls. Set on parchment paper to cool.
  6. While the balls are still warm, press a Mini Rolo into the top of each pumpkin for the stem and add a green M&M beside it as a leaf.
  7. Allow to cool until firm.

These Crispy Rice Cereal Pumpkins are adorable, and they taste even better! They’re the perfect treat to get you into the spooky season! You could even go as far as drawing jack-o-lantern faces on them with squeezable icing.
