Firebaugh Center Groundbreaking Ceremony

On February 7, 2020, the West Hills North District Center hosted the Ground Breaking Ceremony for the new North District Center Building

Many attendees were there from the Firebaugh High School Choir to West Hills College Instructors, Staff, and Students. Assemblymember Joaquin Arambula and Supervisor Brian Pacheco also attended and spoke.

“This project is far more than a building,” said Dr. Stuart Van Horn, Chancellor of the West Hills Community College District. “The modernized Firebaugh Center is expected to call renewed attention to and expand the role and importance of education for the region and its future and serve as a catalyst for enhanced optimism in the area. It will grow the capacity of the district to offer an expanded, enriched curriculum supportive of specialized programs and general education. Firebaugh Center is more than the sum of its parts. It is a contributor, catalyst and useful lever for positive changes in the lives of students and the overall economic and civic well-being of the region.”

The state of the art center will feature 41,623 square feet of classroom, lab, library and office space as well as a new Fresno County library and field office for the California Department of Food and Agriculture. The facility will replace the current 11,764 square foot center.
