Central Valley Promise Celebration

On September 29, our Central Valley Promise students took a trip to Fresno State to celebrate being the first group of students in the CVP project as well as their hard work in high school that got them there.

The bus arrived around 2:00, giving the students a chance to sign in, get their T-shirts and raffle tickets, and explore Fresno State.

And we can't forget the rare sighting of our Falcon dancing with Reedley’s and Fresno City’s mascots!

After this the CVP students gathered for their program at 4 PM, which started with teaching them one of Fresno State’s favorite chants for football games.

This first speaker was Sandy McGlothin who is the program's emcee and a former member of the WHCC administration. The following speakers were Barbara Hioco, Joseph Castro, Paul Harrell, and Elias Karam.

All of the speeches consisted of congratulations to the CVP students, and the hope that they will one day become Bulldogs.

Once the program was dismissed, everyone ate tacos and watched Fresno State’s band perform.

The last event of the night was watching the Bulldogs beat the Rockets in the football game and the CVP students appearance on the Jumbotron!
