Coalinga College hosted its annual Spring Rodeo March 8 and 9, hosting dozens of schools from across the West Coast Region.
On March 8 and 9, Coalinga College's rodeo arena played host to 11 of the best college rodeo teams from across California and Nevada for the annual WHCC Spring Rodeo. The WHCC men and women's rodeo teams faced off against the teams in event ranging from bronc riding to barrel racing, fighting for ranking in the West Coast Region of the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association.
The event also featured the annual WHCC calf dressing championship for staff and students and two rodeo performances.
By the end of the event, the men's team had secured a second place ranking overall in the region while the women sat at fourth place. WHCC's Brushton Dale Minton is first in men's all around while WHCC's Abigayle Hampton is first in women's all around.
The team went on to compete at Lassen.
As of April 2, the men's team is currently ranked first in the West Coast Region while the women's team is ranked third regionally. For a look at the regional standings, click here.
