West Hills College Coalinga Rodeo Weekend Set for March 21-24

Spring is coming and that means it’s rodeo time in Coalinga.

Spring is coming and that means it’s rodeo time in Coalinga.

From March 21 to March 24, West Hills College Coalinga’s rodeo arena will host competitors from 11 teams from across California and Nevada for its annual spring rodeo and also host other rodeo performances including Bad Girls Breakaway Roping and Junior Breakaway Roping.

The WHCC men and women’s rodeo teams will face off against some of the best teams in the West Coast Region of the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association in nine different events ranging from bronc riding to barrel racing. 

The rodeo weekend will feature the annual WHCC rodeo as well as other events. The action will kick off Thursday, March 21 with team roping at 6 p.m. Admission to this event is free.

Friday, March 22 will include a rodeo performance as the WHCC college rodeo kicks off at 6:30 p.m. The following day, Saturday March 23, there will be the annual calf dressing contest featuring WHCC students and staff and the rodeo finals at 6:30 p.m.

Admission is $8 for adults, $5 for students 17 and under, and free for WHCC students with ASB cards and children under 10. The concession stand will be open, with sales benefitting the WHCC Rodeo Boosters. 

Sunday, March 24, WHCC will welcome Bad Girls Breakaway Roping and Junior Breakaway Roping at 11. A.m. Admission will be free to this event.
