What does a Computer Programmer do?

As a computer programmer, it is important to know the various languages of programming. It is common for a programmer to know more than one programming language since once you know one the others are similar enough to learn them easily. From learning the languages, you will be able to write, test, and maintain certain software or programs that act as instructions for computers. You will also be able to develop your own programs that can store information or retrieve certain items.

There are two main types of programmers: application programmers who write programs that help to take care of certain jobs and system programmers who write programs that help to control various types of computer system software. At West Hills College, the degree and certificate programs will help you become the type of computer programmer that you have always dreamed of becoming.

What would I make as a Computer Programmer?

In California in 2018, the average annual income of a computer programmer was $95,068 a year.
