Math Placement Calculations

Coalinga College

The new California law (AB 705) has changed how Coalinga College gives initial English and math placement. Part of the law extends students that have been placed into basic (remedial) level math and English courses from past assessment exams. Using the placement table below, high school performance will be used to place students in appropriate level English and math courses.  Additional measures like Guided Self-Placement will be utilized to maximize student placement.  It is strongly recommended that students meet with a counselor to discuss placement recommendations.  This ensures course selection is based on student's educational goal.
