Second, apply for an FSA ID. Visit the FSA ID Web Site and follow the instructions. Your FSA ID is your electronic signature. You will use it to sign your FAFSA online. If you are a dependent student, one of your parents also needs to apply for an FSA ID. You can fill out a FAFSA and submit it without an FSA ID. You simply need to print and mail the signature page. However, the mailed signature requires more time to process than the electronic signature. Your FAFSA will not be complete until it has all required signatures.
Thrid, begin and complete the FAFSA. Visit the FAFSA Web Site. If it is your first time select “Fill Out a FAFSA”. If you are a returning user, you can select “Fill Out a Renewal FAFSA” In order to complete a renewal you will need your FSA ID. West Hills College will receive your FAFSA information if our school code is one of the six school codes you list on your FAFSA. The school code for the Coalinga Campus is 001176. The school code for the Lemoore Campus is 041113. If you run into any trouble when completing the online FAFSA you can call the Federal Student Aid Information Center at 1-800-4-FED-AID. If you require further assistance you can come into any of our financial aid offices and receive additional help.
Financial Aid Research Study

West Hills College is working with a research organization called MDRC to learn how financial aid can best assist students with managing their finances and succeeding in college. As part of this study, West Hills College will share your student records data with MDRC beginning in the 2016-17 academic year. These data include personal identifiers, such as name and contact information, enrollment, credits attempted and completed, grades, and financial aid awarded and disbursed. Information that MDRC collects for the study will be kept confidential and will be used for research purposes only. If you have questions about the study, or you don't want to be contacted or your data to be shared, please email ALAP@mdrc.org and include your student ID number.
