WHCL Gets CTE Grant- Books, Conferences, & Counselors!

WHC Lemoore was awarded a grant in July that will allow us to add many services to the T.E.A.M. Teach project. The focus is on developing and recruiting students who are interested in teaching in the CTE fields (Agriculture, Business, Public Service, Culinary, Health Careers) and an additional emphasis on future Math and Science teachers. Even though the grant is CTE-related it will improve the services for all T.E.A.M. Teach members. In the next few months you will see the following:

  • Announcement of a T.E.A.M. Teach counselor (available 2 days a week for T.E.A.M. Teach players).
  • Increased Textbook Checkout system- you can now check out up to 3 textbooks each semester for no fee, all you have to do is keep your T.E.A.M. Teach profile up to date. We purchased $6,000 worth of books last month, many of which we checked out already. We do still have books for Math 61/63,  IS 1, and Comm 1 if you need them.
  • A regional Spring Conference for Future Teachers.
  • Tutoring jobs at local junior high and high schools.
  • Faculty Mentors assigned to interested students to help guide them on their teacher pathway.

If you are interested in the program and starting in January please e-mail me and I will pass the information on to MaryJo. You can also make an appointment with her in the administration building and meet with her personally.
