Textbook Check-out and Check-in!
Textbook check-out and check-in started on Wednesday in Portable 506. As a T.E.A.M. Teach member you can check out up to 3 books for the semester. We have already checked out over 150 books and still have a number of books left for EDUC 1, EDUC 5, COM 1, Psychology, Business, Math, Art, Music, Political Science, History, and a few other classes. If you still have a books from spring or summer please return them a.s.a.p. Gustavo Enriquez and Mr. Preston will be available on Thursday, Friday, and early next week to check out books. T.E.A.M Teach Transfer celebration
May 14
On May 14th we wrapped up the semester with our transfer celebration. About 70 students were in attendance for our final huddle. A total of 20+ T.E.A.M. Teach members are transferring to four year universities such as CSU Fresno, Fresno Pacific University, and other schools in the fall (see the picture below of our awesome transfer students!). Congratulations to everyone moving on!
T.E.A.M. Teach Huddles- Save the Date!
Please put the following dates down on your calendar for huddles! All of them will be noon-1:00, all of them will involve free food and great information, and all of them will be in the WHC Lemoore conference center. Our first huddle will be on Wednesday, February 18th and will feature presentations from our financial aid department, Tiffani McGee, and Gustavo Enriquez on how to save money while traveling through college.

Thursday, April 16th at noon we will be huddling up in the WHC Lemoore Conference Center. This huddle will feature a presentation from our T.E.A.M. Teach Counselor, Tiffani McGee, and a representative from Chapman University. Tiffani will be discussing the summer and fall schedule, making appointments, and letting you know more details about how to take advantage of priority registration that is available for T.E.A.M. Teach members. And don't forget the.....free pizza!

2009 T.E.A.M. Teach Kickoff Banquet

We will be having our 4th annual T.E.A.M. Teach Kickoff Banquet (which means a fancy dinner and tablecloths J) on Thursday, January 29th from 5:30 p.m.-8:00 p.m. The event will feature information about T.E.A.M. Teach for 2009, the world premiere of 5c documentary, guest speakers from CSU Fresno and Fresno Pacific University, time to network with fellow educators, and some of the best food in the valley from our WHCL Culinary program…… and a really cool surprise gift (I guess it’s not a surprise now that I just mentioned it, but it is a gift). This is the one event of the year that an RSVP is required. Seating is limited so please RSVP via e-mail to Mr. Preston at jamespreston@whccd.edu before Friday, January 23rd to reserve your seat (the easy way is to reply to this e-mail). This event counts as our January huddle and I want to remind you that if you attend 2 huddles this school year (08-09) you get a T.E.A.M. Teach t-shirt and if you attend 7 huddles this school year you can earn a T.E.A.M. Teach hat!

Halloween Road Huddle: Bus Trip to FPU and CSU Fresno!
Just when you thought our T.E.A.M. Teach huddles couldn’t be any more educational or fun, we came up with the Halloween Road Huddle! We have chartered a bus for Friday, October 31st that will leave WHC Lemoore at 8:00 a.m. and return at 4:00 p.m. Our day will include guided tours at Fresno Pacific University and CSU Fresno, and lunch at the Satellite Student Union at CSU Fresno. To reserve your spot on the bus you can e-mail Crystal Shannon, our program assistant, at crystalshannon@whccd.edu or call her at 925-3243. This will be a popular trip, so sign up now!

This huddle will include our guest speaker Linda Hoff (Director of the Teacher Education Program at Fresno Pacific University), a preview of the upcoming events, and of course…. PIZZA! FPU Teacher Credential Program- Info Meeting on October 9th
WHC Lemoore is extending its partnership with Fresno Pacific University (FPU) to include a 5th year teacher credentialing program for a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential. Linda Hoff, the director of Teacher Education, will be coming to WHC Lemoore for an information meeting about the program on Thursday, October 9th in the WHC Lemoore Conference Center from 4:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. She will also be on campus that same day between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. to talk individually with students who are interested in the program. Many students from the Fresno Pacific University B.A. degree completion program on the WHC Lemoore campus will be graduating in December and going directly into the 5th year credential program. If you are interested in a FPU credential program on the WHC Lemoore campus please contact me at jamespreston@whccd.edu and I can give you further information.

Summer Textbook Check-in: please come to Portable 506 and ask for Gustavo Enriquez, Mondays-Thursdays from 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. or call him at 925-3282 to arrange for a time to drop off your books.
Fall Textbook Check-out: Mr. Preston will be available all day on Wednesday, August 6th at 9:00 a.m. to check out books for the fall semester and then again starting the week of August 11th.

This fall marks the two year anniversary for the T.E.A.M. Teach project. James Preston (Education Instructor/Project Director), Jacqui Shehorn (Major Leaguer/Mentor), and Pedro Avila (WHC Researcher) recently gave a presentation at the Student Success Conference in San Jose that outlined the progress of the T.E.A.M. We will have our 2nd huddle of the semester at noon on Tuesday, October 23rd. This huddle will include a preview of the spring semester, featured learning community classes, and discussion of priority registration. Counselors and advisors will be on hand to help you figure out the best schedule for you for spring and also talk with you about your education plans. As always, we will have pizza!
Priority Registration Starts on Monday, October 22nd for T.E.A.M. Teach
If you joined T.E.A.M. Teach prior to September 15th, 2007 then you have priority registration rights for the spring semester. This means that you can start registering on Monday, October 22nd for classes. Regular registration begins on Saturday, October 27th. Please join us at the T.E.A.M. Teach huddle or make an appointment with a counselor or advisor to develop a schedule that works best for you!

WHCL Gets CTE Grant- Books, Conferences, & Counselors!
WHC Lemoore was awarded a grant in July that will allow us to add many services to the T.E.A.M. Teach project. The focus is on developing and recruiting students who are interested in teaching in the CTE fields (Agriculture, Business, Public Service, Culinary, Health Careers) and an additional emphasis on future Math and Science teachers. Even though the grant is CTE-related it will improve the services for all T.E.A.M. Teach members. In the next few months you will see the following:

FPU Connection- T.E.A.M. Teachers Travelin’ the Pipeline and Future Opportunities
August was a historic month for the Fresno Pacific/West Hills College Lemoore partnership as the first cohort group started the 18 month degree completion program in Liberal Studies. These 15 students transferred into the program with 70 units, they will meet for class 1 night a week for the next 18 months on the WHCL campus, and then they will receive their B.A. degree in Liberal Studies from Fresno Pacific University. Another cohort group will start in January (B.A. in Child Development) and MaryJo Burchard from Fresno Pacific University has been inquiring if we have enough students to start another Liberal Studies cohort group in January. If you are interested in the program and starting in January please e-mail me and I will pass the information on to MaryJo. You can also make an appointment with her in the administration building and meet with her personally. February 2006- Kickoff Dinner!
The 1st Annual T.E.A.M. Teach kickoff dinner took place on Wednesday, February 1st at West Hills College Lemoore. The event was attended by 50 T.E.A.M. members who heard a review of 2005, a preview of 2006 T.E.A.M. events, listened to fellow T.E.A.M. members share some of their highlights, and finished up the evening by huddling up in small groups to talk about their teaching journeys to this point.
