California Work Opportunities and Responsibility to Kids Program
The goal of the program is to empower the individual to leave welfare and make a living for themselves and their family. Students will have the opportunity to select from various vocational certificate programs of study.
If you have children, West Hills College offers services at three child development centers located in Coalinga, Lemoore and Firebaugh. This service is paid for by CalWORKs.
Students who desire to work while attending classes can chose to work at the college or at a business off campus. CalWORKs will pay the state minimum wage or a negotiated wage with the business. Students are encouraged to apply for Free Application for Federal Financial Aid to help offset the high cost of books, materials and other school expenses.
