All Youth One Stop Services Provide:
  • Part-time and full- time jobs
  • Fun and exciting community activities and field trips
  • Help with success in school
  • No cost training

Overview
West Hills College has been commissioned by the Fresno Workforce Development Board to serve middle school and high school students from the Huron, Avenal, Mendota, Firebaugh-Las Delta, Riverdale, Kerman, Dos Palos, Tranquility, Helm, Corcoran, Hanford, Lemoore, and Caruthers Unified School Districts.  Through the Performing Arts & Communication Education (PACE) Corporation, over 300 participants are provided with the following services:

  1. Tutoring - Staff assisted & computerized activities helping youth to be successful in school.  Possible cash incentives & bonuses based on improvement.
  2. Alternative Secondary School Services - Different schooling options when studies in a regular high school environment are not working.
  3. Summer Employment Opportunities - Jobs during the summer months, working between 20 and 30 hours per week.  Classroom activities will also be provided helping youth increase reading & math skills. Possible cash incentives & bonuses during classroom involvement.
  4. Paid Work Experience - Jobs providing training & skills in career field of interest.  Receive minimum wage for hours worked.  Hours will depend on availability and age.
  5. Occupational Skills Training - No cost training necessary to qualify for future jobs.  Program can purchase the books and supplies needed.
  6. Leadership Development Opportunities - Learn to reach your goals, to solve problems, and to work with others as an effective team, through training experiences and community projects.
  7. Adult/Peer Mentoring - Match a caring person with a youth to provide support and advice on being successful in achieving goals and dreams.
  8. Comprehensive Guidance & Counseling - A professional who will help youth to decide on career interests and plan for achievement in a future job or success in school.
  9. Supportive Services - Can provide assistance with childcare, bus tokens and clothing based on the need of the individual.
  10. Follow-up Services - Regular contact with participant after leaving program providing any additional help necessary to ensure continued success.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the PACE Corporation?
PACE stands for the Performing Arts & Communication Education Corporation.  Using the Edward James Olmos Academy and its performing arts/communications programs as a motivational tool, youth participate in various PACE projects four hours per week and two Saturdays per month.  These activities teach the participants valuable work readiness skills that will greatly improve their chances for educational and career success.

What are some examples of PACE activities?
Dance, Drama, Video Production, Show Choir, Set Construction and Recreation.

Who can apply for All Youth One Stop?
Any youth ages 14 through 21 can apply for services with the Economic Opportunities Commission if they live or attend school within the area that is listed above.

Will I get paid?
Participants earn a monthly stipend and choose between earning high school or college credit
