WIN Center Biz Chat with Bookkeeper Dinora Perez

On April 24, the Lemoore College WIN Center held a Biz Chat with Dinora Perez, bookkeeper and owner of Nora’s Tax Services. She started her business in Huron and is now also in downtown Lemoore.

She had a chat with students about what it was like opening her business and how the tax world works. She mentioned it is a very intense job since you’re dealing with people’s taxes and the IRS. Students got to ask lots of questions about starting salary. She answered by saying that it depends on if you’re working hourly or hourly plus commission. You can start earning anywhere from $800-$2000 per week. Something you should be doing now if you are looking into starting a business or working in bookkeeping is taking as many accounting classes as possible. The more you learn and practice the better you will be.

She also mentioned some key components for being successful in bookkeeping is balancing numbers and communication is a major key because you will be dealing with clients all day. To conclude our chat she said if you want a career in business, taxes, or bookkeeping make sure you are passionate about numbers because that is all you will be dealing with.
