
The California State Departments of Mental Health, Developmental Services and Corrections as well as private and county psychiatric facilities are a few of the agencies which employ licensed Psychiatric Technicians.

Coalinga
State Hospital
The
new state hospital began construction in the
Fall of 2001 and is scheduled to be complete
in 2005. The hospital will comprise of 1,148,851
gross square feet (gsf) of floor space.
This will include 850,722 gsf for clinical
services and programs, 157,041 gsf for support
services, 74,379 gsf for administration,
and 66,709 gsf for plant operations. This
1500 bed hospital will generate over two
thousand jobs, and will be the area’s
largest employer.
The West Hills Community College District is taking
the lead in a partnership of local colleges and adult schools to prepare
local residents for jobs that will be available in the facility. The
college has initiated the Psychiatric Technician program that is
one year in duration. West Hills is accepting a new applications year
round.
