Welcome to the West Hills College Lemoore website. It is my honor and privilege to serve as the college president of WHCL.
Over a 30-plus year career in education here in Lemoore, I have watched as WHCL has matured from a few classes offered in a downtown location to our center at 19th and Cinnamon and finally to the opening of our beautiful, state of the art campus at Bush and College Avenues. Throughout that transition, the real strength of West Hills has been in people helping people. Our faculty and staff are committed to serving students in every way possible to help them attain their educational goals.
We offer over 20 associate degree and certificate programs ranging from administration of justice to teacher training. Whether you’re looking for a few weeks of training to improve job skills or classes that will transfer to a four year university, West Hills is here to serve you.
In the past, I would have said that West Hills is in our community to serve our citizens. In today’s world, however, that community can be any where in the world. With our online program, you can take West Hills’ classes any time, any place. You can earn a certificate or associate degree online without ever stepping foot on our campus.
If you’re in the area though, we invite you to visit our campus. Opened in January of 2002, it was the first new community college built in California in the 21st century. Our facilities and technology are state of the art. But we’re not done yet. We recently opened Phase 2 of our campus master plan. New classrooms, vocational training facilities, a state of the art child development center provide additional educational opportunities and services for our students.
We’re at a crossroads at West Hills. We’re at the intersection of Highways 41 and 198 but we’re also at the crossroads of people transforming their lives. The education levels in our communities have been historically low but I believe our new campus offers a chance to change that. We hope you’ll join us.
