Why did West Hills create two new vice chancellor positions in these times?
The topic of reorganization has been discussed for almost a full year. The goal of reorganization is to streamline functions at the district level, reduce the number of direct reports to the chancellor, and to identify potential leaders within the district. The cost of this reorganization, at the district and the colleges, was minimal, less than $9,000.
The timing was important because we wanted to complete the task in the first quarter of this academic year. In addition, the administrators will be using a new evaluation procedure that allows for a 360 degree look at performance and the completion of goals that reflect the strategic goals of the district and colleges. Essentially, more people will have input in the evaluation of all administrators, which is a departure from past practice.
