FIREBAUGH NDC & CDC Emergency Response Drill:
On Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2008 an Emergency Response Drill was held at the North District Center and Firebaugh CDC facilities, the event was conducted in the morning and included Firebaugh Police Department, Firebaugh Fire Department, City of Firebaugh – Maintenance Department and the Mendota Ambulance Services staff.
The Firebaugh drill completes this current school year's Multiple Casualty Incidents (MCI) events as required under the District’s Emergency Response Plan. Consultant Ken Lake has coordinated and assisted district staff in conducting the drills to test the WHCCD Emergency Response Plan and will now assist staff in completing the SEMS/NIMS compliant plan document to include any revisions or changes needed as a result of the testing.
CLASSIFIED STAFF DEVELOPMENT DAY:
Anne Jorgens, WHCCD Risk Management Committee Chair provided a Safety & Risk Management Overview presentation to classified staff at the first CSEA Staff Development Day. It was a great opportunity to provide staff with an overview and update of the district’s Safety & Risk Management program with an emphasis on why, what and how we are doing things mandated and prescribed by Cal OSHA and our insurance carriers.
Business Services Department:
BUDGET DEVELOPMENT:
Ken Stoppenbrink, vice chancellor, Business Services reports budget preparations for the district’s Fiscal Year 2008-2009 budget have begun. FY08-09 tentative budget worksheets have been sent to the college presidents for the colleges to begin preparation of the colleges’ tentative budget requests for their FY 08-09 General Fund 11, Restricted Fund 12 and Ancillary Fund budgets. The tentative budget worksheets are due back to the vice chancellor’s office the first week of April, 2008.
HR/PAYROLL PROJECT
The HR/Payroll Project Team held their first official meetings Jan. 22nd through Jan. 24th. Participants on this project are Jana Cox, Nancy Clover, Marissa Chavez, Melissa Richerson, Ken Stoppenbrink, Becky Cantu, Tammy Weatherman, Sandy Cavins, Thelma Trevino, Michelle Kozlowski, Russell Devine and Keith Stearns. The team has developed a test population and will begin reviewing records and updating as necessary. This means payroll will be able to be processed internally. Checks are currently being processed through the Fresno County Office of Education.
Meetings have been scheduled for the next couple of months. Continuous meetings will occur during the remaining months until we go live on Jan. 1, 2009.
