Lenore Simonson’s son, Sean, was assigned to the USS Chosin stationed in Pearl Harbor in January 2005. He is a Culinary Specialist E-3 seaman. He is one of her 24-year-old twins. His twin, Trevor, is on the UCLA golf team. A third son, Kyle, recently graduated from Fresno Pacific. All are West Hills' grads. Lenore and her husband, Joe, visited Sean in Hawaii in the late summer. A big Keneau Reeves fan, Lenore posed for a picture with his street sign!
The street sign reads "Keanu" and if you know Lenore you know why she is smiling. :)

Doris Williams says goodbye

I think back on the past six years with joy and sadness. I have seen this district grow from one to two campuses. It had serious budget cutbacks, but tried to save as many jobs as possible. It survived and will continue to survive with the guidance that has brought it this far.
I have worked with some really extraordinary people over the past six years. It has felt more like a family than job. I am leaving to go to Golden Plains Unified School District as their director of Financial and Business Services. I owe this job to the experience that I gained working at West Hills. I would also like to thank the board of trustees and Dr. Gornick for starting the Education Reimbursement Program which helped me to decide to work on my MBA. By continuing my education and having gained this valuable experience I was able to move up, alas that means moving out and leaving such a wonderful work environment.
My wish for West Hills CCD is to continue to grow and continue to make this district one big family. I hope many of you will still keep in contact as so many of you have become very close to my heart.
The motto for this district is “Once you go here, you can go anywhere” and that has proven to be true in my case, and it doesn’t matter if you are a student or employee.
Goodbye and best wishes to all.
