Why are we trying for a bond for a third time? Haven’t the voters already spoken?
Measure W, our bond on the November ballot, is, as the board put it, simply too important not to pass. Voter turnout in the two previous elections where we had a bond was very low and the board feels that we need to get more information out to the public on what the $49.5 million in Measure W will mean to our communities. Voter turnout should be higher in November, which will be a positive for us.
In short, there is $79 million in state matching funds that will go somewhere else if we don’t pass Measure W. The education needs of the west side are great and we can only serve them if we build new facilities and are able to stay current with technology.
Watch for a new bond information website with drawings of buildings that are planned in Coalinga, Lemoore and Firebaugh. Please share this information with your friends and family and encourage everyone to vote on Nov. 7th.
