Are the rodeo grounds moving?
Yes. We hope to have the move complete to allow the WHCC rodeo team to compete in new facilities for the 2007 season. Dr. Tricoli and his staff are finalizing grading and water drainage plans with our facilities planners and they’re planning a groundbreaking ceremony and barbecue to kickoff construction. The grounds will be located at the Farm of the Future on part of the 213 acres donated by Dorothy Allen and her family. Watch for details.
Funds for this project will come from the sale of the old school farm. The district and the City of Coalinga entered into an agreement with Rising Star Development, LTD, for the sale of 206 acres of the old school farm site (plus some adjoining city-owned property) for $4 million. That escrow has been extended twice, which has increased the actual sales price to $425,000.00. Those funds are being committed to the Farm of the Future and the rodeo grounds.
