Ask the Chancellor

Why are we going out for a bond so soon after Measure G?

Measure G allowed us to accomplish a great deal since 1998. All of us can take great pride in our facilities and equipment. The reason the board made the decision to attempt another bond, Measure B, is based upon a couple of factors. First, our growth as a district places us in a good position to qualify for funds because of the utilization of our space--the greater our usage the more we qualify for new or refurbished space. The second reason is the opportunity is available to us because the state is attempting to secure funds to assist all of education through a series of large statewide bond measures. These funds provide the match to our local bond funds, which then allows us to complete our district projects.

This next election will be a difference maker for all of us. These funds ($49,5 million from our local bond and lamost $80 million fromthe state match) will provide the margin of excellence our employees and students deserve for the next 15 years. Our trustees have seen what upgraded and new facilities can do for student attendance and performance and they  wanted to continue this momentum for future generations of students and employees.
