Sandy
Sandy Cavins
was sharing cobbler on Monday in honor of her birthday.   Sandy started working at West Hills before she graduated from the college back in 1969.  She is the accounting services supervisor and has also handled the veterans’ program, acted as the counseling secretary, and worked at NAS Lemoore when our program first opened there.

Kathy

Kathy Watts is serving as the interim director of WHCCD child development centers—replacing Patty Scroggins who is now working on statewide child development issues out of Modesto.  Kathy joined West Hills in 1999 and was formerly site supervisor at the Coalinga CDC.  She has two AA degrees from West Hills and holds a BS in child development from Fresno State.  Kathy will be hosting the dedication for the Coalinga CDC expansion and is also looking forward to the dedication of the expansion of the Lemoore site.  Dates will be determined soon.

babiesJoy Cowden has resigned from West Hills’ Farm of the Future as a full time employee to have more time with twin daughters, Cory and Colby, who are now three months old.  Joy will continue to assist FofF on a part-time basis.  Joy holds a bachelor’s degree from Cal Poly, SLO, and is near completion on her master’s degree in Ag Engineering Technology. Her husband, Clint, is the full time FofF instructor.  He has a bachelor's and a master's degree in agriculture also.

Jim and Sandy JeanSandy Jean is the district office’s favorite cat.  She was the only survivor from a litter born in a field at the district office. She was sick and scrawny when Jim Brixey caught her and nursed her back to health—and named her after district office cat lovers Sandy Cavins and Jeanne Henslick.  She loves a good scratch! We are taking up a collection to have her spayed. The cost is $125.00. Look for the "Fix Sandy Jean" fund can in the break room.
