A newsletter for employees is one of the most difficult tasks for any communications professional.  It needs to be interesting and informative.  It needs to cover lots of issues—in very little space.  It needs to answer all the hard questions that employees would like to ask—yet still be fun.  As we launch this first issue of our electronic employee newsletter, these will be our challenges.

Flexible Spending Account Can Save You Dollars     

One of the benefits offered to all full-time faculty and staff members in West Hills CCD is a flexible spending account—also known as the 125 plan.  Essentially, it allows the employee to have a set amount deducted from their paycheck every month that goes into a special account to pay “allowable” expenses for themselves and their dependants.
