Lemoore Scholarships

The scholarships listed below are available to West Hills College Lemoore students. The criteria for each scholarship is listed as well.

All scholarships are awarded on a two semester basis with one half being paid on the first day of each semester upon verification of enrollment

Alda Diniz Memorial Scholarship

One annual scholarship in the amount of $300

  • Students must be registered in 12+ units at WHCL
  • A minimum GPA of 2.5
  • Preference given to stidents of Portuguese  heritage or to those involved with issues related to Portuguese heritage

AP Architects Scholarship

Four annual scholarships in the amount of $250 each

  • Student must be registered in 12+ units
  • A minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Business major
  • Scholarship given to entering freshman, continuing students and transferring to four year university.

 

Bernard Osher Scholarship

Up to 16 scholarships in amounts of up to $1,000

  • Students must have completed 24 or more “degree applicable” semester units (or the equivalent) at the time of the initial scholarship disbursement
  • Student must be enrolled in at least six or more units at WHC during all terms in which the award remains active
  • Student must receive a CCC Board of Governor’s Fee Waiver
  • Awards will be adjusted on enrolled status and determined as follows:
    • Full-time (12 or more units per term) = up to $500/ semester
    • Three-quarter-time (9-11.99 units per term)= up to $375/ semester
    • Half-time (6-8.99 units per term)= up to $250/semester
  • Students may apply for the scholarship a second year

Gary Scherer Book Voucher Scholarship

One annual scholarship in the amount of a $250 book voucher

  • Student must be registered full time (12+units) at WHC Lemoore
  • A minimum GPA of 3.0 is required
  • CIS majors preferred

 

Yenger Endowed Scholarship

One annual scholarship in the amount of $1,000

  • Student must be a full time (12+ units at WHCL), second year student at WHC Lemoore
  • Must maintain a GPA of 3.0 or above

WHCL Hospitality Management

Two annual scholarships in the amount of $500

  • Student must be enrolled full-time in WHCL and enrolled in 6+ WHCL Culinary classes.
  • A minimum GPA of 3.25
  • Student must be full-time (12 units)
  • Available to University-bound, Continuing Community College, and Vocational Program Students
  • Preferences given to students with a major in HRCM

Lemoore Kiwanis Club

One scholarship (Amount to be determined)

Students must be enrolled full-time (12+units)

  • A minimum GPA of 2.5
  • Preferred: Students in financial need and;
     
    • involved in campus activities or organizations
    • or assisting college staff
    • or are involved in athletics
     

Awarded to continuing or transfer students only (to a four year college)

Lemoore Lions Club

Four scholarships in the amount of $500 each

  1) Two scholarships to graduating WHCL students who are transferring to a four year college/university

  • Student must show proof of full time (12+ units) enrollment to a four year college/university
  • Student must be a Lemoore High School graduate
  • A minimum GPA of 3.5

    Preferred: Students involved in community service and;

    • Priority to students involved with the Leo’s Club at Lemoore High School
    • Priority to a student with a family member currently involved with Lemoore Lions Club
    • Difficulty of classes considered
     

Scholarship winners will be expected to attend a Lions Club meeting to receive recognition.

  2) Two scholarships to a graduting Lemoore High School student who will enroll at WHCL in the fall

  • Student must be an entering freshman enrolled full-time (12+ units) at WHCL
  • Student must be a Lemoore High School graduate
  • A minimum GPA of 3.5

              Preferred: Students involved in community service and;

    • Priority to students involved with the Leo’s Club at LHS
    • Priority to a student with a family member currently involved with Lemoore Lions Club
    • Difficulty of classes considered

Teresa Anne Mendes Memorial

One annual scholarship in the amount of $1000.  Must be a Riverdale High School student planning to attend any WHC location

  • Student must be enrolled full-time (12+ units)
  • Student must be an entering freshman from Riverdale High School
  • Student must have a GPA of 3.2

WHCL General Scholarship

Nine annual scholarships--one in the amount of $400 and eight in the amount of $200 each

  • Students must be enrolled part-time (6+ units) or full-time (12+ units) at WHC Lemoore
  • A minimum GPA of 2.5 is required
  • Entering freshman or continuing or transferring students only (to a four year college)

Nick and Edna Ivans Scholarship

One scholarship in the amount of $300 paid to a student at any WHCCD location

  • Student must be enrolled full time (12+ units)
  • Scholarship must be awarded to university bound students only
  • Student must be a continuing or transfer student only (to a four year college)
  • Business or science majors preferred

Padilla Family Scholarship

One annual scholarship in the amount of $300 available for student at any WHCCD location

  • Student must be enrolled full-time (12+ units) at WHC
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA required
  • Avenal High School graduate

Robert S. Palacio Scholarship

Three annual scholarships in the amount of $500 for WHCL students

  • Student must be enrolled full-time (12+units) at WHCL
  • Must be a sociology major
  • Must be planning to transfer to a university
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA required

Robert and Collette Keller Scholarship

One $1000 scholarship at each campus paid as tuition and book vouchers

  • Student must be registered full-time (12+ units) at WHCL
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA required
  • Preference given to those with family ties to the auto industry
  • Student must have attended school in Coalinga, Riverdale, Avenal or Hanford or surrounding communities

Watts Family Scholarship

Two annual scholarships in the amount of $300 are available for students at any WHCCD location

  • Student must be enrolled full time (12+ units) at WHC
  • Minimum GPA 3.0 required
  • Scholarship is for university bound student only
  • Child Development major

Woodson Memorial Scholarship

One annual scholarship in the amount of $150 for a student at any WHCCD location

  • GPA of 3.0 or above
  • Science major
  • Students must be registered full time (12+ units) at WHC

CSEA Scholarship

  • A scholarship(s) funded by the local chapter shall be available to members, former members, their children or grandchildren
  • The number of scholarships awarded each year shall be determined by an ad hoc scholarship committee
  • The amount of the scholarship(s) shall be $500 per year per student awarded
  • The award(s) will be available only upon registration to West Hills College, or another accredited college or university, as at least a half-time student and in the amount of $250 for the fall semester and $250 for the spring semester

 

West Hills College Faculty Scholarship

One scholarship in the amount of $500

  • Must be incoming freshman or current registered student

  • Preferred applicant to be an immediate family member of a WHCCD employee

Martin P. Young Memorial Scholarship

One scholarship in the amount of $250

  • Must be enrolled full-time (12+ units)

  • Entering freshman or continuing student

  • Students must provide documentation of military service of at least 4 years

  • Scholarship does not apply to active duty service member

  • Minimum GPA of 2.5

Hazel Babb Memorial Nursing Scholarship

Two scholarships in the amount of $600 each

  • Must be enrolled full-time (12+ units)

  • Must be accepted into the nursing program

Bill & Jeanne Gundacker

One scholarship in the amount of $250

  • Must be enrolled in full-time (12+ units)
  • Entering freshman only
  • Scholarship is for graduates of Kings Community School which is operated by the Kings County Office of Education

Ed Marco Veteran's Scholarship

Three scholarships per year in the amount of $800 each

  • Student must be enrolled in 12 or more units at any WHC campus
  • Entering freshman 1st priority / Continuing student 2nd priority
  • Minimum 2.5 GPA
  • Student must have unmet financial need
  • Student must complete FASFA application
  • Student must provide documentation of military service of at least 4 years
  • Student must not qualify or be eligible for GI benefits
  • Scholarship does not apply to Active Duty service members

Angela S. Arteaga Memorial Scholarship

Two scholarships per year in the amount of $250 each

  • Continuing community college student, entering freshman or transfer student
  • Minimum 2.5 GPA

Jack & Bernice Woolf Scholarship

One scholarship in the amount of $500

  • Student must be enrolled in 12+ units at any WHC location
  • Continuing or transferring students
  • Majoring in Ag Science & Technology
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA

RCO Ag Credit Endowed Scholarship

One scholarship in the amount of $1,000

  • Must be enrolled at least part time (6+ units)
  • Must be enrolled in an agriculture program (whether academic or vocational)
  • Entering freshman or returning students are eligible

Lemoore High School Foundation-

Four scholarships in the amount of $250 each

  • Must be enrolled full-time (12+ units) at WHCL campus
  • Entering freshman that have graduated from Lemoore High School only
  • Minimum GPA of 2.0

Recipient will be selected by Lemoore High School

Wakefield Everett Memorial Scholarship

One annual scholarship in the amount of $100

  • Minimum GPA 3.75 is required
  • Students must intend to continue collegiate education in Humanities
  • Student must be graduating that academic year
