Tutorial Services

Tutorial Overview:
The West Hills College Coalinga tutorial services are available to students at both the Coalinga campus and the NDC center in Firebaugh.  The program is open to anyone who is a currently enrolled student.
Tutors:  Our tutors are students who have already passed tutor-specific classes with an A or B grade. Tutors are required to take a general tutoring course as well as receive hours of hands-on training and educational workshops. They also have the option of obtaining CRLA Training.
CRLA College Reading and Learning Association) is a national program dedicated to improving tutorial skills and techniques.  This in turn, aids students.  West Hills College is certified by the College Reading and Learning Association. CRLA website

Tutorial Operations:
Peer to Peer:  If you would like to have a specific time throughout the week to meet one-on-one with a tutor, let the Tutor coordinator know.  He will set you up with a schedule according to your needs.
Drop in:  The Tutorial Center is also run on a drop in basis.  Just come into the library and pull up a chair with any one of our qualified tutors.  There is a display of each tutor’s hours and subject specialties outside the library in the display case.
The Tutorial center is located in the College Library/Learning Resource Center.
