Many students with disabilities qualify to receive assistance
with reading their course textbooks and materials. It is the responsibility
of the student to seek out the support services, which will help
them to obtain such assistance. The DSPS office can facilitate
reading opportunities through the following methods:
- Recording
for the Blind & Dyslexic (RFB&D) is a national
service for students with a wide variety of disabilities (not
just blind). Membership information for RFB&D is available
from the DSPS Counselor.
- Electronic Text
(AB 422) provides that publishers furnish to qualified
disabled students text in an electronic format. If unavailable
from the publisher, books may be produced locally with
a high-speed scanner. More information is available from
the DSPS Counselor.
