Cal Tincher replaced longtime icon Mark Gritton as the Falcons head coach in February 2008. As Gritton moved into his duties as the school’s athletic director, Tincher took over the program after serving as the Falcon’s offensive coordinator for six years. During Tincher’s first stint as the OC, 1999-1001, he helped the Falcons win the Valley Conference championship in 1999. During his second stint as the OC, 2004-2007, Tincher transformed the offense into a spread offense where the ball was thrown 50-60 times a game and statistically the offense moved up into the upper tier of the Valley Conference.
Tincher brings twenty years of coaching experience to the program. Early in his career Tincher coached on the high school ranks at El Camino and Sonora High Schools in California. He also head coached at Chino Valley High School, Arizona from 1992-1994. Tincher started his college coaching career when he served as Portland State’s Tight Ends Coach from 1994-1996. During the late 1990s and early 2000s, Tincher was the offensive coordinator at both College of the Siskiyous and West Hills College Coalinga.
As the head coach Tincher continues the commitment of the football program to serve the Coalinga community through the Community Outreach Program and he is also dedicated to student-athlete success by continuing with the Academic Success Program. As the head coach Tincher has also implemented the CORE Leadership Program to foster leadership among young student athletes.
