 Placement Testing & Orientation

 Placement testing is designed to assess writing, reading and math skills.  The results of these tests are used to assist students and counselors in the selection of college level courses.  The orientation for new students will

 be presented along with the sections of the assessment test you need for course placement.

 WHC Coalinga requires students to take all FOUR tests in order to be placed in the appropriate levels of English  and Math.  Students may retest one time only, any or all sections of the placement exam after two  weeks have lapsed since taking the exam.

If you are coming from out of the area, please call first to make sure the testing date is still available or you may take the placement test at the community college closest to you and fax your scores to a counselor.  Please be on time!  Testing is on a first come-first served basis.

Spring 2012 TESTING DATES

TESTING IS IN ROOM Q-3 beginning at  9:00am PROMPT! PLEASE BE ON TIME AS IT IS FIRST COME FIRST SERVED AND THERE IS A LIMITED NUMBER OF SEATS IN THE LAB! NO TESTING IN FEBRUARY!!!!!   FRIDAY MARCH 2, 9, 16, 23 NO TESTING SCHEDULED during Spring Break: April 2 - 6, 2012   FRIDAY APRIL 13, 20, 27 FRIDAY MAY 4, 11, 18 FRIDAY JUNE 1, 8, 15, 22, 29 NO TESTING JULY 2 - 6TH FRIDAY JULY 13, 20, 27 FRIDAY AUGUST 6, 13, 20 WEDNESDAY AUGUST 4, 11 TESTING IS IN ROOM Q-3 beginning at  9:00am PROMPT! PLEASE BE ON TIME AS IT IS FIRST COME FIRST SERVED AND THERE IS A LIMITED NUMBER OF SEATS IN THE LAB!   Students will be able to retest ONE TIME only.  Test proctor will check to see if students have taken the test prior to the test administrator.

  **ATB Testing *  *  *  *  *  *  *  * 

WHC Coalinga now offers ACCUPLACER for the Ability to Benefit Test for students who do not have a high school diploma or GED, to be eligible for financial aid.  You will need to bring the "ATB Referral Form" from the Financial Aid office in order to take the test.  ATB is scheduled during the regular testing dates above but the referral form must be presented along with a picture ID in order to take the test. NO EXCEPTIONS!

STUDENTS WHO DO NOT PASS ALL SECTIONS OF ATB CAN RETEST ONE TIME AFTER TWO WEEKS HAVE PASSED SINCE THE LAST EXAM.  STUDENTS MUST PASS ALL THREE SECTIONS.

   Students without a high school diploma, GED or who cannot pass the ATB test can still be eligible for financial 

   aid by enrolling in 6 units of degree applicable courses.  Please see a Counselor/Advisor to determine which

   courses are appropriate, develop a student educational plan with an informed goal toward a degree or

   certificate.  Once you have successfully completed 6 units of coursework, you are eligible for financial aid.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE BOG FEE WAIVER WILL BE APPLIED TO THE 6 UNITS OF COURSES, HOWEVER, YOU WILL BE INELIGIBLE FOR A PELL GRANT UNTIL YOU COMPLETE 6 UNITS WITH A GRADE 'C' OR HIGHER.

 

PRACTICE TESTS!!!!!
  Click on the links below for the practice test questions!  These questions provide an opportunity to review your skills before you test.  IT is not intended to serve as a "study guide" where the same examples are used in the placement test however, some problems will be similar to the questions on the placement test.   You can take them as many times as  you want, print them out and practice or search the websites for more examples.
