Key Performance Indicators:
Continue improvement of the learning resource center and library focusing on diverse student learning needs.
Develop and implement current academic technology systems in the learning resource center.
Increase availability of academic resources that meet the diverse cultural needs of the communities we serve.
Expand tutoring center services to improve student learning outcomes.
Encourage community dialogue and participation in all aspects of the learning resource center and library operations.
COUNCIL RESPONSIBILITIES
PURPOSE: To develop, implement, monitor, review, evaulate, and revise college learning resources in accordance with the College’s Mission, Vision, and Strategic Plan.
1. ACCREDITATION
- Assist in the development, planning, preparation, supervision, and completion of the accreditation self-study.
- Promote a campus culture that is aware of accreditation.
2. BUDGET
- Develop and monitor the learning resources operating budget.
- Prioritze budget requests from program review documents and/or learning resources documents.
3. SUPPORT STAFF NEEDS
- Make recommendations and identify priorities for new learning resources support staff positions annually.
- Assist with mentoring and orientation for new learning resources support staff.
- Make recommendations regarding assignments and use of office space for learning resources support staff.
- Promote staff development activities for learning resources support staff to improve their individual effectiveness consistent with the College’s Mission, Vision, and Strategic Plan.
- Make recommendations for Flex Day/Duty Day activities related to staff and improvements for student learning.
- Assist in the improvement of communication between the learning resources support staff and faculty.
4. PLANNING/RESEARCH
- Review and interpret research data related to learning resources.
- Promote the use and understanding of research as a basis for learning resources support services.
- Assist in the development of the End-of-Year Report, which is presented to the Board of Trustees by the College President.
- Review and makes recommendations regarding grants and outside funding source proposals that impact learning resources support services to verify relationship to learning resources support services and the College’s Mission, Vision and Strategic Goals.
5. PROGRAM REVIEW
- Develop, review and revise the learning resources and classroom media services program review process.
- Review program library/learning resources and classroom media services program review documents annually and present a summary of proposed needs, changes and problems to the College Consultation Council.
6. STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES
- Develop, plan, and supervise implementation of student learning outcomes for learning resources.
- Hold workshops to educate learning resources staff on student learning outcomes.
- Collect and review student learning outcome narrative reports each semester.
- Make recommendations to the College Consultation Council and Academic Senate for using assessment results to improve student learning.
7. TECHNOLOGY
- Make recommendations and identify priorities for technology issues related to learning resources.
