What do Welders do?

Welders, using manual or automatic tools, join metal parts in order to construct things and fix items. You will learn to read blueprints, perform layout work, basic welding skills. When you begin your career as a welder, you may find yourself helping an experienced welder in order to learn more of the craft.  Working conditions will vary depending on what industry you work for or what you plan to specialize in. You can find yourself working indoors in a shop, outdoors for construction, or underwater. West Hills College’s degree program will prepare you for any condition your future career in welding will place you.

What would I earn as a Welder?

In 2016, the average annual wage for a Californian welder was $39,493. This amount will vary depending on the projects that you undertake and the industry that you will work for.
